Devon SLS Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees will hold the charity ‘in trust’ for current/future beneficiaries and achieve its Object by:

  • Ensuring that the charity has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction and is focused on achieving these.
  • Being responsible for the performance of the charity and for its ‘corporate’ behaviour; ensuring that the charity complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Acting as guardians of the charity’s assets, both tangible and intangible, taking all due care over their security, deployment and proper application.
  • Ensuring that the charity’s governance is of the highest possible standard.

The Board comprises of the Chair, the Treasurer, up to eight appointed trustees and the Business & Operations Manager (non-voting & designated Charity Secretary).

Devon SLS Schools Executive Committee (the SEC)

The Schools Executive Committee (SEC) is the only permanent sub-committee of Devon SLS CIO and undertakes the role of being the core consultative and advisory group for the CIO and schools. It is the vehicle for educational planning for Devon SLS and will act as the unified voice for schools.

The SEC comprises of 12 elected members (6 primary plus 6 secondary) ideally with proportionate representation from L/A and academy schools from each of the 4 areas of Devon and provide an optimum spread of specialist knowledge from each of the key DCC working group/statutory boards e.g. Devon Education Forum, Schools Finance Group, Schools Organisation, Capital and Admissions, SEND, Safeguarding and other themes identified as priority areas from time to time.
